Kansas City College and Bible School Campus

Cowen Memorial Auditorium

Cowen Memorial Auditorium

In 1966 Dr. Charles E. Cowen, the 3rd president of the College embarked on a large building program. Among the buildings that were constructed at that time was the Auditorium. "Doc" Cowen was a lover of basketball, having played high school basketball on the Fordland Missouri team and wanted a gym for the school. The building that houses the gym and administrative offices is named in his memory, "The Cowen Memorial Auditorium." Doc Cowen served as president from 1944 until 1969.

The auditorium is used for many purposes. Every spring, the drama department has a production during the ISAAC events. Also, the KCCBS Falcons and the OCH Eagles train for basketball on the court. The Church of God (Holiness) uses the auditorium every summer for General Camp. Among other things, it is used for Alumni dramas, concerts, banquets and the PTF sponsored annual Country Store.

Music Hall

Music Hall

The building that is called the Music Hall no longer serves that exclusive purpose. Many of the college classes are taught in the building. It also is the location for the alumni, public relations and prospective student recruitment offices.

Watkins Memorial Classroom Building

Watkins Memorial Classroom Building

In the 1966 building program a classroom building was constructed next to the Auditorium. This two-story brick structure houses classrooms for all departments. In addition, the Watkins Memorial Library is located on the second floor. The building was named in memory of the founder and first president of the school Aura Clay Watkins.

Rev. A. C. Watkins was the pastor of the Kansas City, Missouri, Church of God (Holiness). His burden for Christian education found expression in the establishment of a Bible college. For the first two years of its existence it was located in the basement of his church at 29th and Adams. In 1941, however, he and a group of leaders in the church located a beautiful property in what is now Overland Park, KS (a suburb of Kansas City). The property was purchased and became the home of the new college. Rev. A. C. Watkins was the president of KCCBS from 1938 until 1943.

Noah's Ark Preschool and Daycare

Noah's Ark Preschool and Daycare

Noah's Ark offers daycare, Preschool, and before & after school care services. Noah's Ark is a licensed facility with certified teachers and uses the Abeka curriculum.

Noah's Ark is also the on-site lab for the Early Childhood Education program at Kansas City College & Bible School.

KCCBS Chapel

KCCBS Chapel

The Chapel building is one of the older buildings on the campus. When the campus was originally purchased there was a swimming pool in this location. Later the present building was constructed to serve as a chapel and classroom building. The top floor of the building is the location of the beautiful chapel while classrooms are on the lower floor.

Shaver Hall

Shaver Hall

Morey Shaver was loved by all. As the 2nd president of the College she served the school well from 1943 until 1944. She was a single lady and lived in the dormitory which was named in her memory.

If dorm walls could just speak -- the stories they could tell! Guys live on the third floor. Gals live on the second floor. The cafeteria takes up the main part of the main floor.

The 1998-99 Student Council invested its time and money into the development of the main floor lounge into what is now called "The Falcons' Fortress." This is a special place for KCCBS college students to gather, relax, and have fun.

The Stone House

Cowen Memorial Auditorium

The "Stone House" is one of the original buildings still remaining on campus. At one time up to six different families, couples, or singles lived in this residence. It has been completely restored and is now a beautiful residence for two families who work at the school.

KCCBS Bell

KCCBS Bell

Many memories surround this bell. Alumni and current students can tell stories of challenges between those in the boys' dorm and those in the girls' dorm to ring the bell without being caught. Others remember the times of studying or courting around the bell.

The present base and landscaping was designed and built by Eagle Scout Jim Purtle as his project for the Eagle Scout program. Jim is a graduate of our school.

KCCBS Sign

KCCBS Sign

As people travel down the main thoroughfare past the Kansas City College and Bible School campus they see the KCCBS sign. The stately brick structure marks this property as the place where people can gain an excellent education, be equipped for fruitful ministry, and develop in Christian Character.
